My Dog Chases His Own Tail. Does This Signal A Problem?

Listen

To see your dog chase his tail probably gives you a good chuckle. There’s little harm if your dog tries to chase his tail every once in awhile, but sometimes the tail chase is a tale of woe. If your dog goes after his wager frequently, it could become an obsession. And there may be an underlying behavioral or medical problem.

So if your dog chases his tail frequently, try to distract him with a toy or a command to sit. Reward him if he shifts his attention. But if the problem continues, consult your veterinarian. She will help you determine whether or not your dog’s tail chasing should be cause for concern.
